Music Listening Maps are an awesome way for the students to learn music forms and be exposed to the compositions they might not have heard before. As all Music teachers, I have at thousands of mp3 of compositions that I would like my students to be exposed to, but I never get around to playing the compositions to the students. So, I found the listening maps online, combined them with the mp3 and have included them all into these google slides. This is an awesome collection, and I usually do a "Musical Minute Mondays" where we spend 15 minutes every Monday listening to music and following the listening maps. Fun and educational:)

I have also been mesmerized by the cartoons that showcase Classical music in them. I just loved how to animators see the music they hear and how they turn it into a cartoon So, I have made this google slides presentation for my students to enjoy listening to music, while watching the cartoons. To tell you the truth, I also love watching these, as they keep me young at heart:)
This is a second activity in my Music Listening activities series. We are listening to the Hens and Roosters in this activity. I usually play this part of the composition for the students and let them tell me what they think they are hearing. I tell them it is an animal and that the music tries to mimic the sound an animal makes - oh, the hilarity of responses I get, it is awesome! I love being a music teacher! I love doing "Carnival of the Animals" activities with the 3-7 year-old students. I love how creative they can be while they move and act like an assigned animal. I love how immersed they all get into the movements and music that they forget they are human, and totally transform themselves, in this case, a lion. I have made a listening videos for my students, since we are unable to have classes face to face, so that they could listen and act like lions and lionesses at home! Oh, what fun! |
