5/18/2020 0 Comments The Farmer in the Dell"The Farmer in the Dell" is a traditional children's song, but it is perfect for the Advanced Recorder program. The only new note it uses is an E' (high E). The trickiest part of this composition is the transition between the D'-E'-B-G notes, and you could have the students practice these notes in rhythm of the second line if the composition (measures 6 and 7). A great way to bring in the music theory lesson with this composition is teaching the students about the syncopation (a shifting or displacement of the beat) which is a characteristic of this composition. Also, reviewing the terms, such as an "eighth, quarter, dotted quarter and a tie" is a suggestion before actually attempting to play this composition.
